Day 21

Studying in the classroom

The space i took up to study

Today our lessons were at 9am as usual. Ling Li intend to buy breakfast for us at Macdonald but it was raining so she went to 堕落街 to get us our breakfast instead. We planned to try the pork burger as Singapore does not serve that but due to rain, our plans were put on hold. We left our dorms at 8.45am as we do not want to be late. We walked to our classroom slowly and we were all drenched when we reach the classroom. Miss Neo did not start on a new chapter today but went through an assignment and 2 practical. We finished the rest of the practical and were released early at around 11plus so that we can revise for our test which is tomorrow. We went to 建设二路 for Macdonald lunch and I ordered a chicken fillet burger which tastes great and is not served in Singapore. It cost me RMB$19.50 for a meal with drinks and fries. After that, we went to packet food for those who were lazy. We also bought buns in case we were hungry when we are studying in the classroom. We went back to the classroom which Miss Neo opened up for us to study and studied till 6pm. I went through the assignments and we went back to our dorms after Miss Neo locked the room after us. We went back to put our bags and head out to 堕落街 to get our dinner. I bought the 煲面 but with different ingredients this time and it cost me RMB$6. We went back to our dorms to eat and rest for the day.

Personal Reflection:

Today, i notice one fact. The people of china are very friendly if you get to know them well like the china students who hosted us. They are very friendly and treat us very well. However, if you were to meet a complete stranger in china, they are not so approachable and friendly. Unlike in singapore, i believe if you want to ask for directions, many would guide you there. In china, if you were to ask a stranger for directions, most would not stop to tell you how to get to your destination but just briefly tell you walk straight and turn left while continuing on their journey. Some are even worse, they would pretend they did not hear you calling them and just walk ahead. Some would appear pissed off at your enquires and just walk away. However, we kept our cool and thank them even if we did not get our enquires answered. Some were very helpful and friendly like the stallholders at a provision stall. They noticed that we are not locals and remind us to take care of our belonging as there are many pickpockets there. It made me feel a sense of warmth when they are so welcoming.
