Day 7

Today I woke up at 7am to prepare myself earlier and have breakfast with the others. However, my roommate Lingli was sick so Cynthia & I went ahead to meet up with the others who agreed to meed up in the morning for breakfast. However, they could not wake up in time so Cynthia & I made our way to 堕落街 for porridge. Had mushroom lean meat porridge while Cynthia had century egg lean meet porridge. We also bought 汤包 which is equivilent to our 小笼包. It costs RMB$3 for 8 pieces which is a steal as in singapore, if you were to go to 鼎泰丰, it would cost u about $10plus for 10 pieces. We tried 8 pieces and it was good so we got another 2 boxes on our way back for the others as breakfast. We were very early as we finish our breakfast very fast so we decided to go to the classroom earlier to set up. We waited for Miss Neo to open the door and we had lessons as usual from 9 to 4. During the lunch break, we went out to buy milk tea and 汤包again as i'm still not quite full after having lunch at the school canteen. The food here are very oily and not to my liking. Classes ended at 3.35pm today. We decided to go out to shop as we were told that tomorrow's lessons will start at 1.30pm. However, while we are shopping, we received Miss Neo's message informing us that lessons are at 9am tomorrow. We went to 销品茂 to have dinner at pizza hut and shop. I bought a knitted cardigan at RMB$30 which is super cheap but the quality does not look like it will last long but it is still very worth it for the price i'm paying. Also, i bought 2 long sleeve shirts for RMB$55. We took a cab back to campus when the shopping mall closes for the day. We went to visit the china students' dormitory when he suggested we should go over and take a look as it is very different from the rooms we are staying in now. It was a fruitful experience during our 15mins there.

Personal Reflection:

When we went over to the china students' dormitory, we were shocked to learn that 6 of them share a room unlike us where we have only 3 of us in a room and no one sleeps on the top of the double decked bed in our room. Also, they do not have their own toilet in their room like us. They only have a common toilet outside which they share with everyone in the whole level. Besides that, the common toilet also does not have a heater so they have to use cold water to bathe. If they want hot water, they have to make their way to a share common place to bathe and pay RMB$3 per usage. I feel that we are very fortunate to be born in Singapore and not in china. We are very pampered and we take things for granted. I feel that by coming over to Wuhan and going on this trip made me reflect on myself that we should not expect some things that we feel are basic necessities such as heater and seating toilet bowls and make a fuss about not having them when we are here in Wuhan. If they can survive under such living conditions, I feel that we can too. It's just that from young, we are too pampered and it made us think that such things are compulsory and a must have. Therefore, I feel that we should change our mindset after going on this trip.
