Day 8
Today i woke up a 7.45 and intend to go grab a bite before lessons starts at 9am. However, we were only prepared at 8.40 and we think that we will not have time to walk over to 堕落街 to get our breakfast so we decided to skip breakfast and go straight to class. We are the first one to reach the classroom. Miss Neo gave us mini chocolate cake to eat when she heard that we have not had our breakfast. Lessons ended at 12.30pm today as Miss Neo says she does not want to cramp in too much information in case we cannot absorb. We were super hungry after lessons as we also skipped our lunch time which was supposed to be at 11. We went back to our dormitory to wash up and bathe before we go out. As the room's heater has only limit amount of hot water, after Cynthia bathe, i didn't have any hot water left. It was freezing when i bathe. However, Cynthia & Lingli were very helpful. They helped me boil hot water so at least i have some hot water to use. After washing up, we decided to take a cab to 步行街. We have 9 person with us including myself so we decided to take the illegal cab and we paid RMB$40 for the driver to fetch us over. The place is huge and we bought plenty of stuff there. I bought 2 pairs of shoes and 4 pairs of bottom. I spent a total of RMB$300plus and most of us were busy shopping till we forgot to have dinner. We ate Macdonalds at 9.45pm and decided to call the cab that fetched us over in the morning whether he wants to send us back but he say he is busy so we decided to hurry and catch the last bus which ends at 10.30pm. It was hectic when the bus arrives. Everyone was rushing forward to the catch the bus and it was chaotic. We were running towards the bus even before it stops. It was our first time experiencing this as in singapore, we are very orderly and we will not rush forward and push when boarding the bus. We were very worried that not all of us will be able to board the bus but luckily all of us manage to get on. We were sandwiched and Lingli's hand was caught between the doors and she keep screaming my hand my hand but no one could help her out cos we are all stucked and pushed forward. We were all very excited after experiencing such extreme ways of boarding the bus. We managed to reach the hostel at 10.45pm and so we are late for 15mins. We were all very exhausted so we did not blog for the day and went to bed.
Personal Reflection:
Today was a very interesting day as we manage to experience the way the locals take public transport. Besides, we were on our own and without the help of the locals so we cannot depend on them. We learnt how to take public transport and walk around ourselves. At first, we were worried that we may get lost and may not be able to return to hostel on time after the driver say he is busy to fetch us. We were also very worried we may not catch the bus and return back in time as the hostel locks up at 11.30pm. The local students very helpful. Susan called at 10.15 and asked us where are we and whether we are on our way back. She gave us suggestions on what to take in case we could not catch the bus. The local boys who stayed in the same hostel as us even came out to the bus stop to fetch us back. They even volunteered to help us carry our bags of stuff.
