Day 6

Today was as usual. Lessons started at 9am and i reached the classroom at 9.02am. I was on the dot while almost half of the others were late for around 8mins. They were penalised for coming late and were told to fork out RMB$10 as latecomer fee to our class fund. This is to ensure that everyone arrives on time for lessons and lessons can start punctually. Had lessons for 2 hours today and were released early as we have performance later at 7pm. Went out for lunch and walked to jian she san lu to look for a steamboat restaurant as it was freezing outside and the wind was strong. Took a 15 to 20mins walk before we reached the restaurant. The restaurant was very classy and clean. The plates and cups were wrapped in cling wrap until we open them up to use them. However, the charge a RMB$1 for every set. The service was also very good. The price of the food are quite expensive when compared to the previous steamboat restaurant that we went to. Each of us had to fork out RMB$35 for a meal. I also scalded my thumb when i accidentally touched the boiling ladle. We rushed back to campus to meet yanting who was waiting for us to rehearse our dance item. Practiced the chorus part to refresh our memory and choreographed the verse parts. We finished rehearsing our dance item at 4.30 but the others have not arrived on time for the mass rehearsal so we took a break till they arrived and called them to make their way over as we are worried there would not be enough time. Taught the others how to dance the chorus part so that they can join us later. They absorbed very fast and we were done by 6.30. Went to meet the china students who brought us over to a hall to do our performance. Our performance brought many laughter to the people in the hall as it was really hilarious. I was in tears when i saw my fellow mates performing. It was really comical and interesting way to showcase singapore's history. They were really creative in coming up with the performance. Nearly flung our dance performance as were quite nervous and forgot a little of the steps. If i was to rate myself, I would give myself 60% only. There is room for improvement. After the performance, we went back to our dorms and were lazy to go our for dinner so i cooked a bowl of instant noodles for my dinner.

Personal Reflection:

I feel that today i have learnt that everyone has their own different speed in absorbing things while i was teaching the rest about the dance movements. Few of them were quite slow in absorbing the dance steps and i have to keep showing them the steps. I've learn how to be patient and teach them slowly, again and again till they understand. Also, I have learnt how to settle difference in opinions and not ban or put down others' ideas so as not to demoralise them. If we want to reject their idea, we should say why not we try other stuff? or I feel that this idea would be better but yours is fine too.
